I’ve been two weeks on vacation in Montpellier and avoiding writing about it. Part of the reason is my desire to enjoy rather than document. I found further reason for refraining in the June 2019 issue of The Atlantic in an article titled, “Hell Is Other People’s Vacations.” It mentions a 2015 study that found travel and leisure provoked envy in others, so better not to post photos about your France vacation on Instagram.
I quit Instagram last year and Facebook after the 2016 election. The only social media left to me are Twitter and LinkedIn, which is, arguably anodyne. So if you’re reading this, caveat emptor.
