"This smart and soulful novel is about many things -- relationships, Japan, AI consciousness, corporate behavior, aging courageously -- all mixed, like life itself, into a swift intense narrative. It creates its own particular, memorable mood." - Kim Stanley Robinson, author of "The Ministry for the Future."

New Book of Poems Available On Amazon
Now available on Amazon: Makeshift Escape Hatches, a collection of poems and "verbal Polaroids" covers the past 25 years of traveling around the world and living in Japan and China.
In this collection you'll find stories of lust, sex, heartbreaks, and hangovers punctuated by joys and regrets.
The title refers to the ad-hoc nature of the compositions and their utility in finding ways out of feeling stuck.
This book follows my debut novel, Lovers & Comrades, a historical novel about China during the Second World War and what happens to one foreign service officer after he returns to the States amidst a growing torrent of anti-Communist sentiment that destroys lives and careers.
