It’s my third consecutive year getting a hair cut in France, and, thanks to tips from Charlotte and Manu I don’t make a complete fool of myself anymore. Imagine being a salon proprietor and having someone come in asking for a haircut using sheep’s shears. That’s one reason to not rely on Google Translate for survival. No, the correct word is “mower” for the sort of haircut I need (tondeuse).
The going rate for haircuts in Montpellier and Toulouse seems to be 25 euros, but Manu directed me to a neighborhood barbershop specializing in “mowing” men’s hair. I had to wait 45 minutes, because there are a lot of men needing a good mowing, but I got a proper mow along with neck cleanup using an old-fashioned blade razor. Time: 14 minutes. Cost: 12 euros.
Post-mow - no visible difference? Still need a shave!
